global-LFRAZ

The Global LFRAZ is an an effort to minimize air travel and promote sustainable academic practices, and foreseeing that there may be more demand than what we can accommodate, we are inviting colleagues around the world to become "local organizers", holding parallel schools in different regions around the world and/or using a webinar style, ideally on the same dates as our event (but of course at different time zones). Local organizers will be provided with advance-access to all materials (slide decks, links, dedicated forum). Conditional on our own time availability, they may be trained on using the same hardware and software. Local organizers will be in full control and able to adapt the structure, language, and content, including choosing a completely different date if it is more appropriate to local needs and habits. We hope these parallel schools allow researchers to engage in hands-on learning without the need for long-distance travel and foster a global exchange of ideas and creating opportunities for within-region and cross-regional collaboration.

As a local organizer, you would:

  • Access all materials in advance: Slide decks, links, and a dedicated forum for collaboration.
  • Receive optional training: If our schedule allows, we’ll guide you on using the hardware and software we’re employing.
  • Have full control: Adapt the structure, language, and even timing to suit your local needs and preferences.

We hope these parallel schools will enable researchers to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning without requiring long-distance travel, while fostering collaboration both within and across regions.

To learn more about the school, visit https://lfraz2025.sciencesconf.org/. To register your interest, fill out the form available here before February 15, 2025. If you are not sure -- still let us know! There is no commitment at present, just an expression of interest.
